Endodontic treatment, commonly known as root canal treatment, is used to treat an infected tooth where the nerve is damaged or no longer healthy.
If left untreated, infection can lead to pain and further complications. Common causes include deep decay, trauma, or cracks in the tooth, although the cause is sometimes unclear.
Your dentist will assess whether root canal treatment or extraction is appropriate. If recommended, the procedure involves accessing the inner part of the tooth to clean and treat the affected area. It is performed under local anaesthesia to minimise discomfort.
At Dental Boutique™, we use modern technology to support accurate planning and delivery of treatment. Depending on the case, treatment is typically completed over 1–3 visits.

The dentists use specialised endodontic instruments, commonly known as dental files, placed in the root canal chamber to remove the infected nerve space. The root chamber is thoroughly cleaned out and disinfected before an antibiotic solution is placed inside the nerve chamber to help eradicate any remaining bacteria.
The root chamber is then filled in with a thick rubbery material called gutter percha to minimise the chance of any future reinfection. The tooth is then sealed off with two layers of filling materials to ensure a proper seal. Dentist recommend finalising the root canal with a crown to help with durability and protection.

If you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate the need for a root canal, we recommend contacting a dentist promptly to discuss your concerns and treatment options.
Root canal treatment costs may vary based on the number of teeth that need to be treated, severity of the infection, and many other factors. If you need a root canal assessment, please do not hesitate to contact us for an appointment.

View 300+ smilesA root canal is a treatment used to help try and save a tooth that’s badly infected or damaged. Inside each tooth, there’s soft tissue called pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. If the pulp gets infected or hurt, it can cause pain. During a root canal, the dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans out the inside of the tooth, and then seals it. This aims to save the tooth from needing to be pulled out. After the procedure, the tooth usually gets a crown to protect it.
You might need a root canal if the inside of your tooth called the pulp, gets infected or damaged. This can happen because of things like deep cavities, a cracked tooth, or repeated dental work on the same tooth.
A thorough smile assessment during our consultation is necessary to determine if a treatment such as root canal is needed.
