Dental Crown Procedure
Our dental crown procedure is seamless and simple, taking place over two visits. A consultation is required to navigate the proceedings of your treatment. Our team will get to know you and the work that needs to be done. Once your dentist determines whether you need a dental crown or dental bridge and the exact approach required to achieve the best results, the procedure can commence.
Your First visit
Once you’re comfortable, your dentist will numb the area and proceed in removing a layer of the tooth’s outer surface. All decay, damaged tissue, bacteria and debris is disposed of accordingly. The tooth is resized to best support the new porcelain dental crown.
A mould of the tooth is sent to the laboratory, upon which our technician will craft your final porcelain dental crown. The thickness of the dental tooth crown will replicate the layer removed, and the colour of the replacement is matched to your natural teeth.
To complete your first visit, a temporary crown is added to protect your tooth. This is made of a plastic material and held in place with temporary glue. The team at Dental Boutique will advise you how best to care for it.
Your Second Visit
The treatment area is numbed, and the temporary tooth crown is removed. Your new dental crown is fitted and examined.
Your dental crown must work well for your bite, not rubbing against other teeth or causing any discomfort when your upper and lower teeth come together. We’ll adjust its shape and size if necessary. When you and the dentist agree on the aesthetics and functionality, the crown is finalised.
An all-porcelain crown these days is as strong as any other kind and far more attractive. Your new tooth crown should last you at least ten years, even twenty or thirty if you care for it well.
