An overdenture is a type of removable denture that clips on to dental implants. Unlike traditional dentures, overdentures are held firmly in place by the implants. This helps to provide far superior stability, comfort, and chewing function.
Overdentures can replace a full arch of teeth and are custom-made to fit your mouth and bite. They are a treatment option for patients looking for a denture that may offer improved support and function compared with conventional dentures.

These overdentures attach to implants in the jawbone and provide strong support and stability.

Snap onto implants but can be removed by the patient
Suitable for patients looking for superior stability and support compared to traditional dentures
Should be removed nightly for cleaning

Overdentures are designed to replace a full arch of missing teeth. They provide a removable solution that can help restore chewing function, speech, and the overall appearance of your smile.
Overdentures are supported by dental implants, which can help reduce slipping or movement while eating and speaking. Implant support can also improve bite efficiency, making chewing more comfortable.
Overdentures are custom-made to fit your mouth and are supported by implants, which can help them last longer than conventional dentures. Proper maintenance and regular checkups contribute to their long-term function.
Overdentures are designed to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. Implant support helps maintain the structure of your jaw and soft tissues, contributing to a natural-looking smile
At Dental Boutique™, we use a structured planning process to support patients considering treatments such as overdentures. Each step involves your input, helping to create a treatment plan that reflects your needs, preferences, and oral health considerations.
Your dentist will assess whether overdentures may be suitable for you. This involves discussing your dental history, treatment goals, and concerns, as well as evaluating how you smile, speak, and bite. Your individual facial structure and oral health are carefully considered before any recommendations are made.
If treatment is appropriate, comprehensive 3D scans are taken to support planning. These scans allow your dentist to create a digital simulation of your proposed smile. Any previews are indicative only, as outcomes vary between patients. Your dentist will explain all relevant information to help you make an informed decision.
As part of the planning process, you may provide feedback and request adjustments before treatment proceeds. This step helps you feel informed and comfortable with your treatment decision.
On the day of surgery, implants are placed to support your overdenture. A temporary denture may be fitted and adjusted for comfort. Depending on your healing and clinical situation, your final overdenture will be fitted in about 3 to 4 months, allowing the implants to integrate with the jawbone.
After your final overdenture is fitted, regular reviews and maintenance help it continue to function well. Adjustments may be made for comfort or fit, and your dentist will discuss oral hygiene and care to support long-term results.
After implant placement, a temporary denture may be fitted and adjusted for comfort. Mild swelling or tenderness is normal for a few days. Soft foods are recommended initially, with normal eating gradually resuming as healing progresses.
Your final overdenture is usually fitted after 3 to 4 months, once the implants have integrated with the jawbone. Regular follow-ups will monitor healing, check the fit of your denture, and support long-term oral health.
