What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is a custom-made appliance designed to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth or implants. It can help minimise the risk of other dental issues such as shifting teeth, bite problems, and further tooth loss.

At Dental Boutique, we use quality European porcelain to craft our bridges. Despite the usual impression and understanding of porcelain, we craft the material in a way that it becomes durable and mimics the appearance of real teeth, so you’re left with a symmetrical, smile that is built for function.

Missing multiple teeth can affect you from eating and chewing your favourite foods, and potentially cause pain and discomfort. Dental bridges provide a solution by filling the gaps left by missing teeth. Addressing these gaps is often recommended, as leaving them untreated can lead to further complications and dental issues over time.

Treatment in the video is a porcelain bridge, for further information on risks please see here.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Losing teeth can have a big impact your ability to eat, speak, and smile with ease. Dental bridges are a solution for those suffering from multiple decayed, damaged or missing teeth. A bridge is created to treat multiple teeth (supported by teeth on either side), unlike the crown that caters a singular prosthetic. The results are aimed to reflect a natural tooth and tailored specifically to your vision whilst consulting the characteristics of your mouth, tooth colour, and jaw structure.

  • Natural Appearance: Crafted with precision for a seamless match to your surrounding teeth.
  • Restored Function: Restore your ability to chew and speak comfortably.
  • Improve Oral Health: Filling gaps assist in prevent shifting teeth and helps maintain jaw alignment.
  • Durable and Lasting: Made from high-quality materials for lasting performance.

Dental Bridge Treatment Process

Our dental crown bridge treatment takes place over a few visits. Once your dentist has determined what treatment you need, whether it be a dental crown or a dental bridge or other, the exact approach is decided and the treatment can commence.

Visit 1: Initial Consultation & Smile Design

We look at the way you speak, smile, and bite, and from our session, we’ll develop an in-depth treatment plan that may include bridge and crown work (suited to your dental concerns) that captures the steps to attaining a smile that focuses on both the aesthetic and function.

If you would like to proceed with the dental bridge or crown treatment, we’ll take a scan of your teeth and send it to the ceramist to start crafting your dental bridge (with the possibility of crowns placed on either side).

Visit 2: Temporary Bridge Application

Once your dental bridge is designed, our dentists apply temporary bridges (generally paired with temporary crowns). This allows you to trial your new smile and offer any input on the shape, colour, and any other characteristics of your new temporary bridges and crowns, after which the final bridges are completed.

Visit 3: The Final Bridge Application

Our team of skilled ceramists carefully handcraft bridges and crowns from quality European porcelain material. Once our technicians are finished, we can adhere the final fixture.

Frequently asked Dental Bridge questions

Are Dental Bridges right for me?

Dental Bridges are a solution in addressing concerns related to missing teeth. In order to determine if you are suitable for Dental Bridges we suggest coming in for a complimentary consultation with our team. During your consultation, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and discuss both your concerns and goals to assess if dental bridges are best for you.

How long does a Dental Bridge last?

There are several factors that can effect the longevity of a Dental Bridge, but it typically last from 5 to 15 years. Regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups will help keep your Dental Bridge in good shape for as long as possible.

Is the Dental Bridge procedure painful?

During both your preparation and final application appointment, local anaesthetic will be used to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible during and after your procedure. At Dental Boutique™, we also offer many other pain management options if you require them.

Can I eat normally with a Dental Bridge?

Yes, after your dental implant it is expected you should be able to eat as you did prior, but it’s a good idea to be gentle especially right after it’s been placed. Once your Dental Bridge is fully in place and you’re used to it, you should be able to eat most foods without any problem.

Will a Dental Bridge look natural and blend with my other teeth?

Our dentists at Dental Boutique will work with you to match the bridge to the colour and shape of your natural teeth, making it a seamless part of your smile.
