With Astrae®, we use advanced digital and 3D imaging to assist in treatment planning. This technology allows dentists to visualise tooth surface detail – helping to decide where reshaping may be required and where enamel can be preserved. The imaging can map your teeth with accuracy — down to one-tenth the width of a human hair. Think of it like using Google Maps before starting a journey: you see the route, plan for detours, and arrive exactly where you need to.
Unlike traditional manual techniques, Astrae’s technology help aims to avoid over prepping where it is not required to do so. The level of planning included helps to tailor the tooth to fit like they were for you.

Step 2: Smile Design & Mockup

Step 3: Final Smile Application
Once your custom porcelain veneers are ready, we get your teeth ready and fit your final ones with our guides. You’ll have the chance to review, tweak and approve your new smile before we cement.

Astrae® Veneers vs Traditional Veneers?
Traditional veneers have been used in dentistry for decades. The process often involves freehand tooth preparation, which relies on the clinician’s judgement and may vary depending on the case.
Astrae® Veneers use digital heat mapping and custom sequential guides to assist in planning where enamel may need adjustment and where it can be preserved. This approach is designed to support conservative preparation and provide dentists with additional guidance and clarity when placing veneers.
Another difference between the two types of veneer processes is the temporary veneer stage. With traditional veneers, patients typically wear ‘temporary veneers’ made of acrylic for a few weeks while the final porcelain veneers are being made. This trial stage allows for adjustments in shape or size. With Astrae®, digital design tools may be used to create a 3D preview of the proposed veneer design. In some cases, this design can be transferred to the teeth temporarily to provide an example of how the veneers may appear before proceeding to final treatment. It can then be removed and patients will not have to wear temporaries whilst their astrae veneers are being made.

Do my teeth need to be shaved down for Astrae® Veneers?
We understand this is a very common concern around veneers and also a very big misconception. This is one of the reasons we looked in other veneer processes like Astrae® veneers. Astrae® uses guided digital preparation and 3D heat maps to help assess where preparation may be required, measured down to tenths of a millimetre in most cases.
Is the veneer application procedure painful?
During both your preparation and final application appointment, local anaesthetic will be used to help you feel as comfortable as possible during and after your treatment. At Dental Boutique™, we also offer many other pain management options if you require them.
How long do Astrae™ Veneers last?
With proper care and maintenance of your Astrae™ Veneers, the lifespan of Astrae® Veneers is approximately 15+ years. However, it is important to note that outcomes vary between individuals and can be affected by factors such as oral health, hygiene, diet and lifestyle.
How should I care for my Astrae™ Veneers?
Once your Astrae® Veneers are cemented on, they can take some time getting used to, however, taking care of your Astrae® Veneers will be very similar to regular teeth. You will need to continue brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing and are visiting the dentist every 6 months for your checkup and clean.
Are there any risks associated with Astrae™ Veneers?
It is important to understand Astrae® Veneers are a commitment and as like any dental procedure veneers can have some risks and considerations.
